A study published by CBD Oracle reveals that the majority of CBND products sold on Amazon are fraudulent: incorrect THC levels, minimal or even absent CBD, etc.

The craze for CBD products has taken the world of dietary supplements and wellness treatments by storm. However, a recent survey by CBD Oracle reveals that not all products sold on platforms like Amazon live up to expectations. Let's go behind the scenes of the big e-commerce sites.

Laboratory tests reveal the extent of fraud

The editors of CBD Oracle conducted an in-depth study by purchasing 56 of the most popular hemp products on Amazon.com. The results of this study, carried out by InfiniteCAL Labs, are worrying and show that many sellers are taking advantage of regulatory ambiguity to sell inappropriate products.

Worrying results

  • 11% of products tested were positive for THC, some with levels of up to 76 mg per jelly bean;
  • 62.5% of products contained no cannabinoids at all;
  • 43% of products did not even contain hemp.

What's more, only 5% of products had a laboratory certificate of analysis, and none of these were available via Amazon. This shows a cruel lack of transparency on the part of the sellers present on the platform.

Dangers for consumers

This situation represents a significant risk for consumers looking for authentic, safe products.

Risk of unintentional THC consumption

Some products contain high levels of THC, a psychotropic compound illegal in many jurisdictions without a medical prescription. The undeclared presence of THC can lead to unforeseen side effects and present legal problems for uninformed users.

Poor product quality

Products that contain neither CBD nor hemp mean that consumers do not benefit from the expected virtues. What's more, lack of quality control can also lead to the use of contaminated or toxic ingredients. In fact, in Canada, the majority of consumers turn to legal, registered suppliers.

Amazon's inconsistent policies

Despite its policy banning CBD-containing products, Amazon tolerates the sale of so-called “hemp” products that actually contain CBD or even THC. The tightening of these rules seems to be inconsistent, creating room for dishonest sellers.

Many honest retailers complain about the unfairness of the current system, where less scrupulous companies thrive. Falsified customer reviews also make it difficult to distinguish the real from the fake.

How to recognize a reliable product

Despite these challenges, it's still possible to find quality hemp supplements on Amazon if you know what to look for.

  • Check lab certificates: Make sure the product comes with a certificate of analysis from a third-party lab.
  • Analyze customer reviews: Be wary of overly glowing reviews or suspicious voting patterns. Use tools such as Fakespot to help identify fraudulent reviews.
  • Check ingredient lists: Make sure labels are clear and accurately detail product components.
  • Seek reliable sources: Buy from sellers with a good reputation and a transparent history of business practices.

Conclusion: An industry tarnished by abuse

The recent revelations about the hemp market on Amazon underline the urgent need for stricter regulations and stronger control measures to protect consumers. Until this happens, please be vigilant when making purchases, and favor brands offering tangible proof of the quality of their products.

For those concerned about consumer safety and the integrity of the hemp industry, reading independent analysis and staying informed is now essential to making informed choices.
