If you've ever had a taste or feel of the spectacular THC effect, then you must know all about the “head highs” and the legal issues that are associated with it. But what if there was a way to recreate the THC experience (or something similar) without incurring the wrath of the law, or at least evading its long arms? If you like what you've just read, you can read along for even more.

What are Delta 8 CBD Gummies?

To fully understand what Delta 8 CBD gummies are, we may need to describe what Delta 8 is. Delta 8, also referred to as Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant with intoxicating and potentially psychoactive properties. It occurs naturally in the hemp variety of the parent cannabis plant. But because it is usually present in small amounts, it is most often synthesized from other cannabinoids such as THC and CBD.

To manufacture it commercially, labs may convert a cannabinoid, say hemp-derived CBD, to the Delta 8 compound. So when we talk of delta 8 CBD gummies, we're talking about gummies that have been infused with the delta 8 compound. The product is a synthesized hemp-derived, THC-containing substance capable of causing euphoric sensations in its users.

It may not contain THC(delta 9) above the legal limit, but it'll still contain more than enough of its “junior brother”(delta 8) to induce the ” head high” effects that is the craze of most cannabis enthusiasts. You may take a few pops of these gummies and still experience the heights of cannabis bliss without breaking any laws.

Are Delta 8 CBD Gummies legal?

The legal standing of Delta 8 CBD gummies usage has remained the subject of debates and divisive opinions for a long time. In the USA, CBD sellers and users alike point to certain provisions of the farm bill that legalizes the use of hemp-derived products with no more than 0.3% THC content. Delta 8 CBD Gummies meet this requirement, admittedly. But that does not stop it from containing more than enough delta 8 content to create the “highs” that are the main issue in dispute.

This provision looks more like a loophole that most CBD marketers exploit to sell their products in places that come under the coverage of this bill. What the regulatory agencies can do is place stringent measures to discourage the promotion of this product as a cure. The FDA frowns on manufacturers that tout the medicinal benefits of delta 8-containing products(including gummies.

In essence, the legality of the product is a grey area that is open to diverse interpretations. But one thing is certain; these gummies will be flagged if they contain more than 0.3% THC. So if you take gummies that have been synthesized from THC, you may be at risk of falling foul of the law.

Is it safe to take Delta 8 CBD Gummies?

Before we go any further, you must know that the FDA has not given the green light to many delta-8 products in the market today. Hence, we cannot vouch for every single delta 8 CBD gummies that you may have come across. However, if you have to use these gummies, there are some things that you must have in mind in relation to their side effects. Because it is similar to delta 9, or THC, you can expect to experience many of the side effects that the regular THC can cause. Some of them include.

  • Dry mouth
  • Red eyes
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • The rapid rate of breathing
  • Slow reaction times
  • Problem with physical coordination
  • Changes in Appetite
  • Loss of Awareness

If you feel like these are daunting(as you should) you must also know that most of them only kick in if you've had too much to take, or if you've had a particularly potent product. These side effects are better managed by discontinuing the gummy intake. And because the risk of overdosing on this product is slightly less pronounced, it may be considered relatively safe.

Another less talked about risk is borne out of the fact that these delta 8 compounds may be synthesized using harmful chemicals or other materials whose safety you may be unable to vouch for.

What are the differences with classic CBD Gummies?

Classic CBD gummies are products that contain CBD as their major cannabinoid compound. This means that you cannot expect to experience the “highs” associated with THC-containing cannabis-based products. And this is because its extraction and manufacturing process takes care to eliminate all traces of the THC substance or at least to reduce its presence to a maximum of 0.3% by dry weight.

This is very nearly in stark contrast to delta 8 CBD gummies, where the delta 8 THC compound (one of the other cannabinoids) is deliberately introduced to the gummies. And while this compound is no THC or delta 9 THC, it is still capable of producing the same euphoric sensations in its users. The “head high” effect is replicated in the THC 8 gummies along with the other potentially pain-relieving and even mood-relaxing feelings that you can derive from taking it.

The marked difference between the two products is in the effects both cause. While the classic CBD gummies will only go as far as bring relief from body pain and cause better quality rest/sleep, the THC-containing counterpart will cause a few hairs to raise. While it can cause less pronounced “highs,” it also has pain relief, relaxing, and uplifting properties.

Factors To Consider While Buying Delta 8 THC Gummies

Care must be taken while choosing from many of the delta 8 THC gummies that are available for purchase today. Below are some questions you need to ask before splashing the cash on any of the products making the rounds.

– Can the product manufacturer provide results from an independent third-party testing procedure, especially from an ISO 17025-compliant lab.

– Does the product come with a manufacturer's label that can provide a quick glimpse of the individual ingredients that go into the gummies.

 – Can the manufacturer reveal the source of their hemp or the location where the THC was synthesized.

– Does the product contain, at most, 0.3% THC.

– Does the product come with a certificate of analysis accessible in paper form or through a scannable barcode provided in its manufacturer's label.

– Can the FDA vouch for the manufacturer of the gummies.

– Is the delta 8 derived from the hemp variety or the marijuana variety of the cannabis plant.

If the answers to these questions are “yes,” you can go ahead to make your purchase. But if you've not gotten a decent number of positive responses, you may have to try elsewhere in your quest for the delta 8 CBD gummies.

Final thoughts

Delta 8 CBD gummies are a bridge between the euphoric heights of the THC-containing delta 8 compound and the relative safety of the CBD compound. They provide an avenue for cannabis enthusiasts to experience the”highs” and other potential health benefits of the cannabinoid blend without straying too far away from the legal boundaries permissible.
