There are over 100 cannabinoids in the Cannabis plant and scientists have not fully discovered what these compounds can do for the body. HHC recently gained popularity as a therapeutic, psychoactive compound with lasting effects. Learn more about how HHC can interact with our system below!

How Does HHC Interact and Affect The Body?

HHC, stands for hexahydrocannabinol which is a chemical compound that is naturally found in the cannabis plant. It was first discovered in 1994  but the compound has recently gained popularity in the cannabis market alongside THC and CBD. However, there are ongoing studies and research to see how exactly HHC can affect the body.

However, most commercial best HHC are formed in a lab by adding hydrogen molecules to THC to create a completely new molecule. Both THC and HHC interact with the endocannabinoid system which functions to maintain homeostasis i.e balance in your body. HHC specifically binds to the CB1 receptors that is located in the brain and central nervous system.

It generates a euphoric high and may be beneficial for anti-inflammation, pain alleviation, sleep promotion, general health and wellness. Meanwhile, THC binds to the CB1 receptors to a stronger extent than HHC for a more potent high. In addition, many users report experiencing a milder, less potent high after taking HHC.

The effects of HHC also depends on the potency of the strain and molecular structure. Producers have discovered that it comes in a high and low molecule variant. The high potency 9R HHC molecule binds to the endocannabinoid system faster than the low molecule variant. Scientists are still conducting research to see how HHC can affect the body.

How Long Does HHC Stay In Your System?

Apart from its suggested therapeutic benefits, many people are using HHC as an alternative means to get high instead of THC which is banned in most places. HHC is also intoxicating but it provides milder psychoactive effects than THC. And, it may not cause any side effects of paranoia and anxiety if taken in appropriate doses.

Meanwhile, there is not a lot of scientific research surrounding HHC in the system. One study discovered that the liver molecules in small rodents broke down HHC in a similar way to THC. In addition, since HHC and THC have the same molecular structure, it’s easy for drug tests to miss the differences and confuse HHC for THC.

At the moment, we don’t have a clear profile on how long it takes HHC to stay in the system. Depending on the body tolerance, frequency of use, metabolism, HHC can last in the fat tissues and remain in the system for about 4-6 weeks. It may also be detected in the blood and urine of frequent users for up to several months.

Additionally, it is recommended that light users abstain from the substance for up to three weeks before a drug test. Some users also claim that traces of THC came up in their drug tests after using HHC carts. However, most of what we understand about HHC effects comes from animal studies and individual reports.

Different Factors That Can Vary The Effects

HHC is a natural cannabis compound that is often used for health and wellness regimens. It produces psychoactive effects such as relaxation, euphoria and increased appetite. And, it’s generally considered a minor compound since it mainly occurs in high potency cannabis compounds such as THC and CBD.

Like most cannabinoids, the effects of HHC vary according to the individual and it may not produce the same effects for two people. Different factors can vary the effects of HHC including:

  • Dose – It is very significant in determining how you’re likely to feel the effects of the compound. When you take a moderate dose of HHC, you can feel enjoy the effects without experiencing any negative reactions. If you’re a using HHC or THC for the first time, we recommend starting out with a low to moderate dose.
  • Delivery Method – The method of consumptions will affect how quickly the compound will reach the endocannabinoid system. HHC edibles will also produce more long lasting effects than HHC carts or tincture. However, it is easier to control the dosage with HHC vape or tinctures than when you take edibles.
  • Potency – HHC produces similar effects to Delta-8 THC and it comes in both the low and high potency molecules. The high potency molecules bind faster and more effectively to the CB1 receptors so you may feel stronger effects. Therefore, you should get only high quality products that will ensure a better experience.
  • Body Metabolism – Your personal tolerance to cannabinoids will also determine how you’re likely to feel the effects. We recommend starting with a low dose to observe your body chemistry and how it reacts to the compound.

Conclusion: How Long Will You Feel The Effects of HHC?

In general, most of the information available about HHC is from animal studies and individual reports. The effects of HHC last according to the means of consumption and HHC edibles can last for about 6 to 8 hours. Meanwhile HHC vapes and tinctures may only last for about 3 hours depending on how much you take.
